The Most Crystal Clear Waters On Earth

The Most Crystal Clear Waters On Earth

Flathead Lake is a very large and natural lake in northwest Montana. it is the largest natural freshwater lake by surface area that is west of the source of the Missouri River in the contiguous United States. The lake is a remnant of the ancient, massive glacial dammed lake, Lake Missourian of the era of the last interglacial.

The lake is relatively deep, with a maximum depth of 370 feet, and is known for its crystal clear waters. In recent weeks, Flathead Lake has entered the public awareness as the result of a viral image showing the lake's 'crystal' clear waters.

A lake is a physical feature, a body of liquid on the surface of a world that
is localised to the bottom of basin (another type of land-form or terrain feature; that is not global). Another definition is a body of fresh or salt water of considerable size that is surrounded by land. On Earth a body of water is considered a lake when it is inland, not part of the ocean, is larger and deeper than a pond
